The 277-2 Sand Trap and Controller with Rotary Shut-Off remains the industry standard for uniform sanding to enhance locomotive traction. The 277-2 Sand Trap is designed with a unique adjustment feature that determines the amount of sand delivered to the point of contact between the rail and wheel interface. By using an Allen wrench to adjust the integral paddle, the sand delivery can be adjusted from a "LO" setting to position "three" without breaking any pipe connection. The integral Shut-Off permits the sand trap and controller to be removed without draining all the sand from the sandbox. The T-handle wrench provided in the quick flange allows the sanding hose to be disconnected with ease as well. Fixed delivery traps are available upon request. This preset feature can prevent costly sand waste.
